Sundial is a mobile application designed to provide insights into the user's behavioural patterns and their use of time.
Create and customize morning routines, navigate these routines using the app, and improve behaviour using the insights that are provided.
of people are late to work at least once a week.
of Millennials, specifically, are late to work at least once a week.
of organizations claim they have fired someone for being late.
According to a nation-wide survey, the top three reasons people give for being late are due to traffic, over-sleeping,and bad weather.
All three of these reasons can often be prevented with better time management and/or behavioural changes.
In my primary research, I interviewed and surveyed various participants who fit the following criteria:
of survey participants said they were "usually" or "sometimes" late in the morning
of "usually" late participants said it was a behaviour they would like to change about themselves
of all participants indicated that their sleeping habits are the biggest influencers on their morning routines
The top reasons particpants gave for being late in the morning were poor time management and sleeping in.
"The worldwide wellness industry has grown by 10.6%, earning $3.72 trillion between 2013 and 2015"
"94% of millenials reported making personal improvement commitments in 2015 (10% higher than any other generation)"
"Millenials anticipate spending nearly twice as much as boomers on self-improvement, despite a much lower average income"
Designing my solution started with sketching out ideas on paper, and then moving over to wireframes
Users did not understand the "heat-map" infographic indicating early and late arrival times.
"Data From Your Routines" sounds cold and unfriendly.
Average arrival time is difficult to find.
Users did not understand why "Add new task" is placed inside the routine.
Users were uncertain about gear at the top right corner.
Users indicated they would like to see the total time needed for tasks.
Users were unsure what "+3 mins" meant.
Visuals would help users understand the data much better.
Too much text. Hierarchy and shortened phrases will help.
